Visiting Turkey Creek Farms

So excited to have you joining us for some restful, restorative time out in nature at Turkey Creek Farms whether you come for the day or overnight – whatever suits you is fine.  Dogs and children are always welcome!  Below are pertinent details.

How to get there

Put 6000 Lonesome Pine Savannah, TN 38372 into your map system.   Depending on where you are leaving from, your map system will likely bring you in either on Hwy 64 to Savannah or out Hwy 72 to Corinth MS and then up to Savannah.   We prefer 72 because there are less small town slow downs than on 64 but it really is 6 one way and half dozen the other.

Food – What to bring

Bring whatever you plan on eating and drinking.  Think picnic food.

There is a refrigerator, a small electric camp stove and a few pots and pans for that, small microwave, convection oven and toaster oven plus dishes and silverware.  We do not have a full sized oven at the farm house but we do have a regular coffee machine at the Farm House if you jones on morning coffee!   And of course you can cook over an open fire anytime!  S’mores are delicious 🙂

There is a superwalmart in town and a kroger if you forget something (about 20 minutes into town from the Farm House)

Sleeping Options

At the Farm House we have a king sized bed in one bedroom and two twin beds in the other.   There is also a cot around and of course the sofa!

If you like glamping, at the Wall Tent up the hill we have two cots and a sofa.   The Wall Tent has a wood burning stove and a portable battery system to power lights at night.   Very cozy!

We also have several hammocks with bug nets you can setup.

All beds mentioned above already have sheets and comforters or sleeping bags on them.   Cots, tents or hammocks may need additional sleeping bags/comforters.

What else to bring

  • Towels – regardless of whether you go in the creek, farm life gets dirty so you may appreciate towels for your car ride home if nothing else.  We also have a washer/dryer at the farmhouse if needed.
  • If you think you might explore the creek, bring waterproof boots (cold weather) or sandals for the summer.
  • If summer time bring clothes/swimsuit to get wet and play in the creek
  • Bug spray.  Also check for ticks when you leave.  We find they like some folks more than others and are more prevalent in the early spring.
  • If you are planning to camp, you may want a flashlight/headlamp.

Cell Service

There is cell service on a couple of places on the property.   Mainly at the “phone booth” area and the Wall Tent.  Down at the farmhouse we do now have WIFI (cable internet) so you can do phone calls over IP if needed.

Map of the Property

There is plenty of parking in the driveway at the farmhouse.   Please park at the house.  The driveway up to the land is NOT traversable without a 4×4 vehicle.

Go on in the backdoor of the guest house.   You are welcome to walk all over the property – Use the map above.   Yellow lines on the map indicate “roads” to walk on.    Blue line is outline of our property.   Everyone is very friendly around here.

Step by Step Directions:

  • Leaving the Farm House, walk back down Lonesome Pine towards Gobbler Branch. Just before you get to Gobbler Branch you will see a break in the trees with a dirt driveway and a gate a little ways in.   There are yellow No Trespassing signs around.   This is the driveway.
  • Walk around the gate and follow the road a little bit. Take the uphill part to the right.
  • At the top of the hill you will see the “phone booth” where we park the Polaris Ranger UTV off the right. There is a blue metal phone sign there.  Take the road to the left to keep going to the tent.
  • Take the First Left you can. It will look sort of like a “4 way” intersection with an old porclein toilet.   The bit to the right ends very quickly.   The bit in front of you keeps going along the property line in a heavy pine-needled area and eventually dead-ends.   You want to turn left to get to the tent.
  • Now the road is curvy through the woods. To me it looks like a magically walk through the forest!!!
  • After a while there will be a short branch that goes off the right. That leads to a small clearing.
  • Stay to the Left and you will see the wall tent coming up.
  • To get to the creek from the Wall Tent, curve around and follow the road down the hill. It is fairly steep here.   You will be able to see the neighbor houses now.   Don’t worry if you hear their dogs barking – they are kept penned up.  Keep following along the edge of the property along the back of the houses and eventually you will see the creek off to your left.   Cross over and you can follow the creek.   We own about a mile of the creek and everything on the left bank up to the top of the ridge.
